What the evidence adds up to
Mucoepidermoid carcinoma is the most common malignant tumour of the salivary gland, representing 3 to 5% of all gland tumours and 20 to 30% of malignant tumours in minor salivary glands. One case report describes a 12-year-old child with a hard palate MEC, where early diagnosis, multidisciplinary evaluation, and intraoral surgical treatment were considered key determinants of good outcome. Another report describes a 50-year-old man with a 2.5 cm ulcer-budding tumour of the soft palate, movable relative to the deep plane; complete surgical excision is stated as the treatment of choice, combined with postoperative radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Cutaneous presentation of MEC is described as rare and infrequent, with prognosis related to histological grade and clinical outcome.
No abstract provides any quantitative survival or response rate data. No abstract reports a clinical trial, a prospective cohort, or a comparison of treatment regimens. Carcinoma mucoepidermoide: caso raro em paciente jovem
AbstractThe mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) is considered the most common malignant tumor of salivary gland and represents 3 to 5% of all tumors glands. For its aggressive behavior, it must be considered among the diagnostic hypotheses in regions where they can have salivary glands. Early diagnosis and appropriate tumor management are a priority for good survival, quality of life and even cure. This work reports a case of MEC of hard palate in a 12 years child. Early diagnosis, multidisciplinary evaluation and intra oral surgical treatment were key determinants of good outcomes in patients with MEC of minor salivary gland.
Primary high grade mucoepidermoid carcinoma of skin and cervical lymphatic affection a rare entity
AbstractMucoepidermoid carcinoma is a well documented and described in the salivary glands entity, represents 20-30% of malignant tumors in minor salivary glands and multiple tumors have been reported in head and neck, paranasal sinuses, upper respiratory airways, thyroid, breast, in our experience and based on the literature, its cutaneous presentation is rare and infrequent, but identifiable by pathology and immunohistochemistry not very different from the salivary glands; Prognosis is related to histological grade, clinical outcome.

In our work, we report a case of mucoepidermoid carcinoma observed in a 50-year-old man. Clinically, he presented the ulcer-budding tumor of the soft palate, movable relative to the deep plan measuring 2,5 cm. The diagnosis was based on clinical, radiological and pathological arguments. Complete surgical excision is the treatment of choice in combination with postoperative radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
