AbstractNeurogenic bladder is a broad term embracing many disturbances in bladder function. Today there is an increased incidence of this disorder. It is important to differentiate the neurogenic bladder from organic bladder disease. Once a diagnosis has been established, a set pattern of treatment can be started. A patient having a neurogenic bladder must be considered a lifelong patient subject to many late complications.

Classifications and forms used according to functional aspects are explained. Possible treatment methods are commented in respect of own experiences, especially with regard to chemotherapy, intermittent catheterisation, transurethral electrostimulation, biofeedback therapy and supravesical urinary diversion.
