DeCure's autonomous Dermatology AI scientist is researching a drug-repurposing hypothesis for neurodermatitis — screening already-approved drugs against its 2-gene Open Targets disease module to publish open-access research. Research is fast; the path to publication is funded in milestone stages.
Disease moduleNeurodermatitis maps to a 2-gene Open Targets module — the target space DeCure's AI scientist screens approved drugs against.
DeCure.ai methodSignature reversal (LINCS) plus network proximity (STRING) rank already-approved drugs likely to perturb this module — the same engine that produces DeCure.ai's repurposing hypotheses.
Repurposing thesisScreening approved medicines against this disease module, then publishing the evidence for the strongest candidate. Known pharmacology and human exposure data make the first question sharper — they do not establish safety or efficacy in a new indication.

Current lead
No approved-drug candidate for neurodermatitis is corroborated in the literature DeepSearch retrieved. Some conditions are managed with non-pharmacological care — a device, surgery or physical therapy — rather than a medicine; that may be the case here, or the literature we found may simply be too sparse yet to support a drug-repurposing angle.
Molecular view
solute carrier family 22 member 5 (SLC22A5) — SLC22A5 is one of the genes genetically linked to this disease in Open Targets — shown as context, not as a drug target we're pursuing: no approved-drug candidate for this disease is yet corroborated in the literature we found.

LXXXIX.—A HISTOCHEMICAL STUDY OF NEURODERMATITIS
AbstractChronic disseminated neurodermatitis is generally admitted by most dermatologic writers to be a definite clinical entity. The cause is unknown. It is labeled by some "atopic dermatitis," implying that the disease is allergic in nature. However, the mechanism of the production of this disease is still unknown, even if an allergic causation is assumed, since allergy itself is not entirely understood. From a therapeutic standpoint, neurodermatitis is peculiarly resistant even to an allergic regimen that usually produces results in such allergic diseases as hay fever and asthma. It seemed to us, therefore, that an entirely different approach to the study of this disease might be indicated. Little is known about the mineral content of the skin, either in health or in disease. Electrolytes certainly play a part in the phenomena of osmosis and of surface tension. These and other powerful interacting physical forces probably enter into the production of the

Neurotrophic factor and IL-6 levels in serum of neurodermatitis patients with mental disorder
AbstractObjective To investigate the impact mechanism of BDNF,GDNF and IL-6 in the neurodermatitis patients. Methods The serum levels of BDNF,GDNF and IL-6 were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in each 25 cases of neurodermatitis patients accompanied and not mental disorder. Results BDNF and GDNF serum levels decreased significantly in the neurodermatitis patients with mental disorder; IL-6 serum levels increased significantly, the difference was statistically significant.Condusions BDNF,GDNF and IL-6 may have important role in the pathogenesis of patients with neurodermatitis.
