DeCure's autonomous Rare AI scientist is researching a drug-repurposing hypothesis for neovascular glaucoma — screening already-approved drugs against its 2-gene Open Targets disease module to publish open-access research. Research is fast; the path to publication is funded in milestone stages.
Disease moduleNeovascular glaucoma maps to a 2-gene Open Targets module — the target space DeCure's AI scientist screens approved drugs against.
DeCure.ai methodSignature reversal (LINCS) plus network proximity (STRING) rank already-approved drugs likely to perturb this module — the same engine that produces DeCure.ai's repurposing hypotheses.
Repurposing thesisScreening approved medicines against this disease module, then publishing the evidence for the strongest candidate. Known pharmacology and human exposure data make the first question sharper — they do not establish safety or efficacy in a new indication.

Current lead
No approved-drug candidate for neovascular glaucoma is corroborated in the literature DeepSearch retrieved. Some conditions are managed with non-pharmacological care — a device, surgery or physical therapy — rather than a medicine; that may be the case here, or the literature we found may simply be too sparse yet to support a drug-repurposing angle.
Molecular view
placental growth factor (PGF) — PGF is one of the genes genetically linked to this disease in Open Targets — shown as context, not as a drug target we're pursuing: no approved-drug candidate for this disease is yet corroborated in the literature we found.

Neovascular glaucoma: Handling in the future
AbstractNeovascular glaucoma (NVG), which is refractory to both medical management and surgical intervention, is a disastrous ocular disease for it always ends up with intolerable pain and extinguishing patients' residual visual function. Since insufficient acknowledge of the pathophysiological and molecular mechanisms of NVG, it has been laying a challenging dilemma of managing NVG in clinical practice for a long time. Along with the progression on some new agents and surgical options targeting certain possible roles in the NVG process, there seems having been some new sights but still much unknown and to be revealed. This review discusses the underlying etiologic diseases of NVG, molecular findings and characteristics of its pathogenic process, as well as the management of NVG in detail. In addition, here represents some of our hypothesis regarding the interesting findings about NVG in clinical practice, aiming to provide some new enlightenment for future research.

Different treatments and therapeutic evaluation of neovascular glaucoma
AbstractNeovascular glaucoma(NVG)is a kind of glaucoma secondary to other ocular or systemic diseases, which has characteristics such as uncontrollable intraocular pressure, sharp decline in vision, and eye pain. There are many researches on neovascular glaucoma at home and abroad about different treatments and new methods are being explored, but the surgery is the ultimate treatment at present. The way of combining anti- vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)drugs and surgical methods is a hot topic in recent years. This article will review the different treatments and efficacy evaluations described in the article about NVG.
