What the evidence adds up to
A 2011 case report describes a 16-year-old female with headache and convulsion for two months; MRI showed a brain tumour later confirmed as dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumour by histopathology. A 2021 report describes a 16-year-old girl whose DNET was diagnosed at age 6, treated with gross total resection, and followed by serial imaging. She had been seizure-free but then presented with a focal seizure; MRI revealed recurrence of a peripherally located lesion ten years after the original surgery. No other treatments or drug interventions are mentioned in these abstracts.
The 2004 and 2016 abstracts are learning objectives and a methods statement, respectively, and provide no patient outcome data, survival figures, or response rates. The 2016 abstract notes that DNET is a rare, usually benign paediatric brain tumour presenting generally with seizures, and states the goal was to evaluate the role of surgery for seizure control, but the full text is not provided here.
No drug, chemotherapy, or targeted therapy is discussed in any of these abstracts.
